How Beamvera Manages a Trade

Know which rules stay with the broker, which actions depend on Beamvera, and when you choose to exit early.

Into the guide

Protection starts at the broker

For a supported single-bracket entry, Beamvera sends the entry to OANDA with a stop-loss and take-profit. These protective exit orders are hosted by OANDA. OANDA can execute them even if Beamvera becomes unavailable.

A stop-loss (SL) defines an adverse price level for an exit; a take-profit (TP) defines a target price level. Neither is a promise of a fill, an exact execution price or a fixed maximum loss.

Two supported ways a trade is managed

The strategy's supported capabilities determine which mode applies. Active management is not available for every strategy.

01 / Broker-hosted exits

Single bracket

At OANDA
The entry is sent with a broker-hosted protective stop-loss and take-profit.
During the trade
The bracket defines the normal exit path: the stop-loss or take-profit can close the trade at the broker.
If Beamvera is unavailable
OANDA can still execute those broker-hosted exit orders. They do not depend on Beamvera remaining connected.

02 / Predefined actions

Lifecycle strategy

At OANDA
A supported lifecycle strategy retains a broker-hosted protective stop-loss.
During the trade
Beamvera performs only the strategy's predefined actions: advancing a stop, closing at market on completed-candle milestones, or closing at a maximum hold limit, where supported.
If Beamvera is unavailable
The existing protective stop remains at OANDA. Beamvera-dependent actions wait and resume only after reconnection and reconciliation with the broker's current state.

Rules, with a connection dependency

Active management follows predefined strategy rules. Beamvera does not make discretionary interventions or invent a new exit because conditions look different.

A completed-candle milestone is evaluated after a candle finishes. A maximum hold limit is a predefined time-based exit. These Beamvera-dependent actions require Beamvera to be available and connected; they cannot be assumed to occur on schedule during an outage. Uninterrupted availability is not promised.

After reconnecting, Beamvera must reconcile with OANDA before resuming those actions. Reconciliation means checking the broker's current trade and order state, including whether an exit has already happened.

A protective stop-loss must be present. A missing protective SL is never an accepted operating mode. Reconnection does not make an unprotected trade acceptable.

Close is your decision to exit early

The explicit Close action in Trade Center is a user-directed early exit. It is separate from a normal broker-hosted bracket exit and from the strategy's predefined lifecycle actions. You do not need to press Close for an existing OANDA stop-loss or take-profit to execute.

Keep the scope clear

This guide explains supported Practice workflows. It does not grant execution permission, establish Live or real-money readiness, or mean that every strategy supports active management. Practice execution still requires the exact strategy's eligibility, evidence and connection checks.

OANDA is a separate provider. This explanation does not imply an OANDA partnership or endorsement.
